Homemade McChicken Burger

Make a bigger and better version of classic Mcdonalds McChicken Burger at home. A super easy recipe with crispy seasoned burger patty and special mayo sauce.

Make your own McChicken burger at home using your own quality ingredients, with no preservatives. You will be assured a wholesome chicken burger which is exactly the same taste as Mcdonalds.

  • Chicken – use good quality chicken to make your mince. You can use chicken breast alone or use breast fillet and thighs together.
  • Spices – salt, black pepper, white pepper and garlic powder
  • Batter – Plain flour, corn flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder and cold water.

Prepping the Chicken – Mince the chicken in food processor and then add salt, black pepper, white pepper and garlic powder. Mix well until combined.

Shape the Chicken Patties – Take a portion of the chicken mixture and shape it into thin patties roughly the same size as your burgers. Place the prepared patties on a tray lined with baking paper. Freeze them for minimum 30 minutes. This helps to firm them up and it gets easier to handle them.

Make the Batter – In a bowl, whisk together plain flour, cornflour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, white pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Dip each patty in the dry batter first and shake off the excess flour. Add cold water to the dry batter to make it medium consistency batter.

Frying the Chicken patties- Heat vegetable oil in a pan and preheat it. Dip patties in batter and drop it in oil. Fry on medium heat until golden brown on both sides.

McChicken burger should have nice and crispy chicken patty, that’s is not oily or soggy.

To achieve the perfectly crispy patty place the fried patty over a wire rack. This helps to drain the oil and let the air pass through which prevents the patty from being soggy.

The secret to best tasting McChicken burger is the mayo sauce.

You can make signature Mcdonalds Mayo sauce with just 2 ingredients, Mayonnaise and Mustard.

For 4 tablespoon of mayonnaise add 1 teaspoon of mustard. Whisk it together and set aside.

Homemade McChicken Burger

Once you have chicken patties and mayo sauce ready, its takes only few minutes to put together the burgers.

Apply little butter on the brioche buns and toast them in a pan until golden.

Place the chicken patty on the bottom half of the bun and top it with shredded iceberg lettuce. Spread a spoonful of mayonnaise on top bun and put it on top.

Ingredients
  

CHICKEN PATTY

  • 700 G Chicken Fillets
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Oil for deep frying

BATTER

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup corn Flour
  • 1 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup cold iced water

FOR ASSEMBLY

  • 4 brioche buns
  • butter for toasting buns
  • shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

Instructions
 

MAKE THE CHICKEN PATTIES

  • Cut the chicken into small pieces and add it to the food processor and process until its minced.
  • Add all the spices and mix well. Take a portion of the chicken mixture and shape into a thin patty. Place on a tray lined with baking paper. Make all the chicken patties and put them in the freezer for 30 minutes, or longer, if it’s still hard to handle.
  • Heat a pan with about 1 to 1.5 inches of oil over medium heat to about 325°F or 162° C.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, corn flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  • Coat each patty in the dry mixture and shake off any excess.
  • Then add the water to remaning flour mixture and whisk to create a wet batter. The consistency of this should be thin.
  • Dip the chicken patties in the wet batter and then place in the hot oil. Fry in batches until golden brown.
  • Transfer to a wire rack to let any oil drain out.

MAKE THE MAYO

  • In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise with mustard until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

ASSEMBLY

  • Butter the buns and toast them in a pan over medium heat.
  • Assemble the toasted buns with the lettuce at the bottom followed by the chicken patty. Spread mayo over the top bun and put it on the top.

Notes

  • You can use chicken breast fillets or mix of breast and thigh fillets too. Store bought chicken mince works too.
