How To Make Choc Chip Oat Bars
This is a one-bowl recipe, which makes them even easier to make. They are made with just a few pantry-staple ingredients, so you can make them anytime.
- Oats – Rolled oats also known as old fashioned oats. The texture with rolled oats is better as compared to using instant oats.
- Flour – Plain Flour and Self Raising flour.
- Desiccated Coconut
- Egg – at room temperature.
- Melted Butter – unsalted butter
- Chocolate Chips – milk chocolate or dark chocolate chips. You can also combine a little bit of both.
This recipe is very flexible you can add dried apricots, dates, cranberries, sultanas or your favourite nuts.
Simply mix all the ingredients in a mixing bowl. No mixer required just a wooden spoon or spatula would do. Spread the dough on baking tray Use a spatula to flatten the dough and ensure that its all even so it results in even thickness. Bake for 10 minutes and then cut the bars. I cut the in rectangular bars, you can cut them in squares too. Bake it again for 20-25 minutes untill they golden brown.
I use 30 cm x 20 cm x 2.5 cm pan this makes an oat slice that’s 1.5 cm thick. I wont recommend using a pan bigger than this as the bars will be thinner and will break apart easily.
Storing Choc Chip Oat Bars
These choc chip oat bars stay good in air tight container for 4-5 days at room temperature.
